They’re back!! Heirloom tomatoes have arrived! These juicy seasonal staples are picked at their peak and are sweet enough to enjoy on their own. Alternatively, we love them sliced on a grass-fed burger, in a bright salad, or served along with fresh cucumbers and herbs. 

We also have freshly harvested sweet corn, wax beans, sweet and spicy varieties of peppers, and more available in the shop! Pre-order through our website or drop by our Chesterton farm store Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10-5, Fridays from 10am to 5:30pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 4:30pm. See you soon!

Produce

This week’s fresh harvest includes a delicious variety of local, seasonal options! As always, if you can't make it in until Saturday, please put a pre-order in so that we can either reserve some of the harvest from earlier in the week or harvest again and have it waiting fresh for you.

  • Beets! Big, beautiful tops included!!

  • Blueberries (frozen)

  • Broccoli (florets) — very limited harvest this week while they regrow

  • Cabbage (green or purple)—first of the season for the purple!! And plenty green! So, if you're trying to can or make sauerkraut, order ahead and we'll try to offer bulk for the weeks to come!! 

  • Cantaloupe (mini and medium)—first of the season!! Hope to see yellow watermelon next week!!

  • Cauliflower—limited supply of "cheddar", purple, and white varieties!

  • Cucumbers—Enjoy an added crunch to your healthy salads with this delicious addition to any meal! 

  • Garlic

  • Green and Sweet Pepper Varieties (many colors)

  • Green and Yellow Wax Beans

  • Heirloom Tomatoes—Many colors, flavors and varieties, it's that time of the season!!

  • Herbs—Fresh celery, chives, dill, mint, oregano, parsley, sage, and some surprises!! Many dried options! 

  • Hot Pepper Varieties—jalapeno, sugar rush, etc.

  • Kale

  • Kohlrabi—some purple and some green . . . odd but true!

  • Leeks—First of the season!! 

  • Lettuce (whole heads, Romaine—red, green, purple, and Butterhead included)—These heads are full, long-lasting, and have a delicious crunch.

  • Mushrooms—Fresh, locally harvested winecaps as well as dried Maitake and shiitake options (caps or sliced)!! 

  • Onions —some dried and some green, amazing flavor in any dish!

  • Patty Pans—delicious summer squash! French name, pâtisson, derives from a Provençal word for a cake made in a scalloped mould. Versatile for any meal!

  • Potatoes—medium to large Red Nolans, Purple, and Kennebec!! Fresh dug . . . amazing flavor! 

  • Shallots—limited and first of the season!

  • Sugar Snap Peas

  • Sweet Corn—first of the season, can you believe it's this late! We couldn't harvest these beauties without the rain!! Don't miss it!! 

  • Sweet Potatoes

  • Swiss Chard

  • Watercress

  • Zucchini—yellow, zebra, and other varieties (petite and tender)!

    As always, our produce is GMO-free and grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides — and we make sure it stays that way, even for crops that are tricky to grow naturally! 

Dairy & Eggs

This week’s options include:

  • Grass-fed cow's milk (Including both Kalona Supernatural and Small Acres Family Farm this week), butter (limited supply—and more of the Small Acres 8 oz tubs than the Kalona), buttermilk, cheese (Caciocavallo, cottage, GGC sharp cheddar, semi-soft, washed rind cheese, traditional tomme, semi-firm, smear-ripened, Alpine style premium reserves and a variety of others), French Dip, Kefir (plain), sour cream, yogurt (plain & vanilla), and whipping cream!

  • Chicken & Duck eggs! If you must have and can't make it in until Saturday, please pre-order so that we can reserve at least 1 dozen! We can rarely reserve more than a dozen at a time, but you are welcome to ask, and we will try!

  • Beef Roasts: Brisket, Rump, and Short Ribs!

  • Beef Grill Options: Ground Beef, Ground Chuck, and Ground Round, Suet (for getting your skillet hot, with flavor), and more! We're also carrying The Brooklyn Hot Dog Company dogs: All Beef or Beef & Pork! 

  • Beef Stew & Organ Meat Options: Soup Bones, Stew and Organ Meats! Respect the whole animal and enjoy the health benefits! Ask our team what makes the organ meats so special!

  • Chicken (frozen for the season): Whole and Cut-ups (breasts—currently boneless/skinless only, leg quarters, thighs—boneless or bone-in options, and wings), Ground Chicken, Soup Bones (necks and backs) and Organ Meats (liver & gizzards). Try our yummy Mild Chicken Italian Sausage!!

  • Lamb:
