Locally harvested mushrooms are a delightful treat!

Did you know our wine cap mushrooms are locally harvested right here in Indiana by a certified mushroom hunter / farmer-forager? Wine cap mushrooms are earthy and nutty tasting, making them a favorite of foodies everywhere.  

We are happy to support a vibrant regional food system by offering fresh, locally sourced ingredients to the customers of Acorn Acres Farms. We are grateful to all who make this possible!

Produce

We are excited to say that this week’s fresh harvest continues to include a growing number of delicious produce options as we make our way through summer! If you can't make it in until Saturday, please put a pre-order in so that we can either reserve some of the harvest from earlier in the week or harvest again and have it waiting fresh for you.

  • Beets! Big, beautiful tops included!!

  • Blueberries (frozen)

  • Broccoli (whole heads)

  • Cabbage

  • Cauliflower—limited supply of purple and orange varieties!

  • Cucumbers—Enjoy an added crunch to your healthy salads with this delicious addition to any meal! 

  • Green Onions—Nice healthy bunches!! 

  • Herbs—Fresh chives, mint (multiple varieties), dill, celery, oregano, parsley, sage, and some surprises!! Many dried options! 

  • Kale (Lacinato)

  • Kohlrabi—trying again this week ;)

  • Lettuce (baby lettuce mix or whole heads, Romaine—red, green, purple, and Butterhead included)—These heads are full, long-lasting, and have a delicious crunch.

  • Mushrooms—Fresh, locally harvested winecaps as well as dried Maitake and shiitake options (caps or sliced)!! 

  • Peppers—Hot varieties! May have some sweet too!

  • Potatoes (newly dug white and purple varieties this week!)

  • Sprouted Broccoli (with florets)—limited quantity so please pre-order for best results!

  • Sugar Snap Peas

  • Swiss Chard

  • Tomatoes

  • Turnips

  • Watercress

  • Zucchini—petite and tender!

    As always, our produce is GMO-free and grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides — and we make sure it stays that way, even for crops that are tricky to grow naturally! 

Dairy & Eggs

This week’s options include:

  • Grass-fed cow's milk, butter, buttermilk, cheese (cottage, sharp, aged cheddar, semi-soft, washed rind cheese, traditional tomme, semi-firm, smear-ripened, Alpine style premium reserves and a variety of others), French Dip, Kefir (plain), sour cream, yogurt (plain & vanilla), and whipping cream!

  • Chicken & Duck eggs! If you must have and can't make it in until Saturday, please pre-order so that we can reserve at least 1 dozen! We can rarely reserve more than a dozen at a time, but you are welcome to ask, and we will try!

Meat Availability

This week’s options (while supplies last) include:

  • Beef Prime Steaks: Thick cut Ribeye, Filets, NY Strips, and thinner cut Sirloin Steaks!

  • Beef Savory Steaks: Cubed, Round (Top, Bottom, and Whole), and Tri-Tip Steaks!

  • Beef Roasts: Brisket and Short Ribs!

  • Beef Grill Options: Ground Beef, Round, Suet (for getting your skillet hot, with flavor), and more! We're also carrying The Brooklyn Hot Dog Company dogs: All Beef or Beef & Pork! 

  • Beef Stew & Organ Meat Options: Soup Bones, Stew and Organ Meats! Respect the whole animal and enjoy the health benefits! Ask our team what makes the organ meats so special!

  • Chicken (frozen for the season): Whole and Cut-ups (breasts—currently boneless/skinless only, leg quarters, thighs—boneless or bone-in options, and wings), Ground Chicken, Soup Bones (necks and backs) and Organ Meats (liver & gizzards). Try our yummy Mild Chicken Italian Sausage!!

  • Lamb: 

    • Lamb Shoulder or Sirloin Chops

    • Lamb Stew Meat and Neck Roast

  • Pork: Hot and Sweet Italian, Ethiopian Berbere, Fresh Kielbasa, Mild Breakfast, Oaxacan Adobo, and Real Vermonter's Maple Sausage!  All from our pannage raised pork and organically sourced spice blends (featuring the Teeny Tiny Spice Co).

    • Pork Chops (bone-in/thick or thin cuts), Steaks, spareribs and more! Other cuts: Back Fat (Great for making your own lard, sausage, or using just like it is to grease your skillet!). 

    • Smoked Jowl, pork belly, Canadian bacon, ham slices, and hocks!! 

    • We're also carrying a variety of hardwood smoked bacon sausage options from Big Fork (from Berkshire Hogs raised on pasture): Aged Cheddar, Bacon & Ale, Chicken & Bacon, Cracked Black Pepper, Hickory & Applewood, Maple & Brown Sugar, and Portabella Bacon Sausage!   • Turkey (frozen for the season): Whole, Breast, Thighs, Drumsticks, Wings, Soup Bones (including backs and feet), and Organ Meats. We also have ground turkey by the pound! If looking for boneless/skinless turkey breast, please order a week ahead!
